The Twilight Zone
This afternoon we will present three of the very best episodes from the classic TV drama THE TWILIGHT ZONE - still deemed by critics as one of the best TV dramas ever made!
And they will be shown on authentic old-school 16mm, and with all the original commercials intact!
The groundbreaking sci-fi/horror/fantasy drama series, THE TWILIGHT ZONE (1959-1965) is an inspiration for shows such as "BLACK MIRROR". The timeless stories are razor-sharp, fanciful, often ironic and with a relevant message.
Written by the show's creator Rod Serling ("The Planet of the Apes") and featuring beautiful B/W photography, often starring iconic movie stars and with great direction and music. Come and experience three half-hour stories of fantasy TV at its best!
From the intro, written by presenter Rod Serling: "There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call ... The Twilight Zone."

15:00 = In 1959 screenwriter Rod Sterling created the most thought-provoking and shit-disturbing television series ever – “The Twilight Zone.” With its potent mix of science-fiction and social commentary, it would influence the televised medium for decades to come. Today we begin a once-a-month series that will last to the end of 2020. Select episodes will be screened on Sunday afternoons on the original shooting format of 16mm and will include the same commercials (extremely rare and not available on digital collections) that ran with these shows when they first appeared on television and will give you the chance to experience the shows exactly the way they were first experienced. The three episodes today are all highlights from season 1 (1960): “A NICE PLACE TO VISIT,” PASSAGE FOR TRUMPET” and “MIRROR IMAGE.”
